Watercolors by G. Vionnet: infinitely blue

Geneviève Vionnet exhibits her watercolors at the Library of La Tour-de-Peilz.

Blue settled, smooth and limpid under the belly of a gray cloud. Blue, the suggestion of a sea made with a hint of color, bordered with a pale blond sand and a gilded lining for the horizon .

Genevieve Vionnet knows the infinity of the sea and restores it to our astonished eyes with a singular modesty. A few touches of pale green embroider the yellow straw, pink needles indicate a coast and islands.

FROM THE SEA TO THE LAKE

And it could be the lake of some magical days, but the Savoyardes mountains reappear in a line of blue night crests. The blue and the green dancing on the waves, the turquoise and the transparent jade are of a more soft southern light.

The oily pencil comes in places to plant a tree, to sketch a wall on which clings the carmine pink scarf of a wild plant. Three flakes of tender green in an orchard, a swell of golden wheat behind the blue line of a lake, the drawing of terraces of vineyards or a ribbed field, banners of pink flowers on top of meager stems, everything touched by Geneviève Vionnet's brush is marked by the grace of a moment seized on the fly.
